- From Santa Maria Novella train station, exit to the left, cross the street and continue towards the right. Largo Alinari is the first street to the left. Hotel Berna is about 2 minutes away on foot.
- By plane
- From Florence's Amerigo Vespucci Airport, take a taxi or use the Volainbus shuttle bus, which will take you directly to the SITA bus terminal at Santa Maria Novella train station. You can buy a ticket on the bus without paying a surcharge.
- By car
- From the tollway, coming from the north, exit at “Firenze Nord” and follow the signs for “Firenze Centro-Stazione Santa Maria Novella”. Hotel Berna is at the end of Via Nazionale where, just before you come to the square before the station, the street widens and is called Largo Alinari. The hotel is at number 11, at the corner with Via Fiume. Coming from the south, exit at “Firenze Sud,” follow the avenues passing Piazza Beccaria, Piazza Donatello and Piazza Libertà, continuing on Via Lorenzo il Magnifico, and, before the stoplight, turn left and cross Viale Spartaco Lavagnini; keep to the right and continue on Via Santa Caterina d'Alessandria, which becomes Via Nazionale at Piazza Indipendenza, which will be on your right; finally, continue straight in Largo Alinari to the intersection with Via Fiume, adjacent to the station.

Florence breathes
It's always worth coming back to Florence and Hotel Berna and now there's one more reason! Piazza Duomo is now entirely a pedestrian area. Finally free of its chaotic traffic, this magnificent space has been completely returned to the people of Florence and tourists. In any case, the piazza can still be reached on public transportation from Santa Maria Novella, with intermediate stops adjacent to the Duomo.
Florence has also made other important steps towards sustainable mobility: the new, soon to be inaugurated tram line 1, will run from Santa Maria Novella train station to the city of Scandicci, on a route 7.6 km long with 14 stops. Tram line 1 follows a new bicycle path connected with the Arno Bicycle Path (C1C); it crosses the new bridge over the Arno reserved for trams, bicycles and pedestrians that connects Florence to the great Cascine Park. Scandicci is in an area of significant historical and cultural interest, surrounded by parks and hills, and an interesting excursion outside the city walls in Florence's enchanting countryside.
