By plane
Amerigo Vespucci Airport is connected to the city center by the new T2 tram line, which links Florence Airport to the Santa Maria Novella train station (Valfonda stop), right in the heart of the historic center; the journey from one end of the line to the other takes just 21 minutes (with 12 stops along the route).
The first departure is at 5:00 AM and the last at 12:30 AM; on Friday and Saturday nights, service is extended until 2:00 AM. A ticket costs €2 and is valid for 90 minutes.
Every tram stop is equipped with a ticket machine that accepts cash, debit cards, and credit cards; you can also pay directly on board using a card or smartphone via the contactless system (Tip Tap).
By train
From Santa Maria Novella train station, exit to the left, cross the street, and continue to the right. Largo Alinari is the first street on the left. Hotel Berna is about a 2-minute walk away.
By car
If arriving from the north via the motorway, exit at Firenze Nord and follow the signs for Firenze Centro – Stazione Santa Maria Novella.
Hotel Berna is located at the end of Via Nazionale; just before reaching the station square, the street widens and becomes Largo Alinari. The hotel is situated at number 11, on the corner of Via Fiume.
If arriving from the south, exit at Firenze Sud, drive along the boulevards passing Piazzas Beccaria, Donatello, and Libertà, then continue onto Via Lorenzo il Magnifico. At the first traffic light, turn left and cross Viale Spartaco Lavagnini; keep to the right and continue onto Via Santa Caterina d’Alessandria. This street becomes Via Nazionale at Piazza Indipendenza (located on your right). Finally, continue straight into Largo Alinari; the hotel is on the corner of Via Fiume, right next to the station.
Please note: Hotel Berna is located within a Restricted Traffic Zone (ZTL). You can leave your car at a partner car park just 5 minutes away. For information regarding the ZTL and parking, please ask the staff when booking.
